Since my fun over at OTC I’ve been back to work at home studying – trying to catch up with my schoolwork. It’s not all nose to the grindstone – Kuniko and I have had some free time lately, and we’ve been having fun.

Yesterday we both had a day off so we slept in, and then went to Akashi and had a picnic under the cherry blossoms on the shore of the lake in Akashi park. It wasn’t just us – lots of Japanese people are enjoying “hanami” parties this time of year. It was fun to buy some special bento boxes full of food, a six pack of beer, and just relax and enjoy the beautiful weather.

I was also able to catch up with some ex-coworkers from Takasago Minami. I met up with Yamamoto sensei, Maeda sensei, and Fujimaru sensei in Akashi. We went to an izakaya and had lots of greasy food with beer, and then played a couple games of bowling at a nearby alley. Finally we met a former student of Maeda sensei’s for coffee, and then called it night.

It’s already Friday night, and we’re taking it easy at home. Tomorrow Kuniko has a big day at work – there is a big school party after work that she was in charge of organizing, so she’ll be coming home tired and (hopefully) tipsy. I’ve got no plans other than just caching up with homework and relaxing at home. This weekend we’re also planning on maybe getting some yakiniku somewhere, and perhaps seeing “Cloverfield” at the movie theater.

Looking forward to the weekend!
