One of the new programs at Kuniko’s school, called Waku Waku English, is designed so that the students in the courses are speaking a whole lot more English than before. \u00a0The teachers are using more English in their classes, too. \u00a0Kuniko, as head English teacher, has to really push the other teachers hard to use English, though. \u00a0Teaching English using English is a bigger stretch than you might think.<\/p>\n
Anyway, yesterday I helped out at an event to try to attract new students and introduce them to this new teaching style. \u00a0I worked with a couple of other native English speakers, and many Japanese English teachers, and we taught for about half the day to 14 students. \u00a0The lessons were well organized, and I had a good time with my students. \u00a0Some were a bit shy, but after a couple hours they warmed up and started to participate a little more.<\/p>\n
I think the event was a success. \u00a0It was interesting to see the different styles of teaching from the other teachers, too. \u00a0After the event wrapped up and we cleaned up a little, Kuniko and I went home to grab some yakitori and beer at Komedori and then headed home for an early bedtime. \u00a0I think I’ve decided that working on Sunday is not my cup of tea.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
