So I’m back to the work routine after a relaxing five days. We had a great party the other night with Kuniko’s coworkers, who turned out to be a wild bunch. The carne asada turned out really nicely, and the beans were a home run. We managed to have some leftovers, so this weekend we should be able to enjoy some more tacos.

Five years ago today Kuniko and I walked into the Akashi city office and spent fifteen minutes filling out some forms, and then left the office officially married. We got married in the summer mainly for logistical reasons, with the ceremony held in November of that year. But since that day we have celebrated our “Akashi” wedding anniversary by having a dinner together in Akashi. Tonight we’ll be going to Chiro – our favorite pizza place. It was tough to get a reservation this year – I had to pull the “but it’s our anniversary dinner…” with the owner – so I might try tonight to get a yearly reservation.

The heat continues outside, and I am very happy that I work in a small comfortable air conditioned office. I’ve been walking around in shorts and sandals for the last five days, so it is a little weird to wear the business gear again. Just for a couple of days, though.

And I would be in trouble if I didn’t mention that it is also my parents’ wedding anniversary today. They have a lot more than five years under their belt, and I hope they also can take some time to get out and enjoy themselves.
