Out of my League

Yesterday one of the American guys at work asked me to look over a contract that he had translated by a third party. He asked me to make sure that the English version was a perfect match to the Japanese, and on first blush it looked pretty good. I took it home hoping that it would take less than an hour to go over it, but the more I looked at it, the more it smelled of a big project. At least, a big project for me.

Since it was a contract it was full of terms that were unusual, and as a contract the correct wording is pretty important. I could see a couple of problem areas right off the bat, so today I’m going to take it in and take a pass on this job. It’s not often I am able to flat out refuse work – but in this case I have the option so I’m going to exercise it.

Also at work a couple of great stories came up, but as usual I am not allowed to relate them. This rule is killing me – lots of good stuff comes up at work! I miss the days of relating the antics of high school and elementary school students… I’ve still got antics, but I just can’t relate them.

Can’t believe Thursday is already here. As usual, work burns time quickly, and before I know it it’ll be my birthday, then Thanksgiving and Christmas… time is flying.
