Party On

We had a nice get together Tuesday night with some teachers from Kuniko’s school dropping by to swap stories, eat Italian food and hit the bottle a little bit.

Kuniko went all out to prepare for the party – and cooked up some really tasty dishes. Luckily there were enough leftovers to keep us in dinners all the rest of this week. Very good news indeed.

The party itself was fun, and the teachers enjoyed catching up in a casual setting. We are getting better and better at entertaining, and it shows by how much time we spend in the kitchen vs. how much time we spend talking and eating with guests. This time we had plenty of time to spend with our guests.

Today I have an orientation meeting for my new students, and then in the afternoon my last set of classes for my old students. Starting tomorrow regular classes will begin with my new students, and I’m looking forward to meeting some new faces. The students on average are about 10 years younger than my current students, with some exceptions. I’m interested to see what effect that has on my lesson plans and the retention of new vocabulary.

This weekend I’m going hiking with Yoshi on Saturday in a retroactive attempt to burn the calories we took in drinking on Monday night, and then next week it is back to vacation planning. Lots to do and lots of plans that still need to be finalized.
