Hot Dogs in Suma

Last night after work I met up with a couple of students and we went off to Suma for dinner. They had an idea to drop into the hot dog shop near the station, run by a guy originally from Denmark.

The hot dogs were good (although I chose the salami sandwich) and everything tasted better washed down with a Carlsberg beer. The owner was very busy preparing for tonight’s World Cup game with Japan meeting Denmark. His plan was to take all his equipment to Tokyo and try to sell hot dogs to fans gathering to watch the game at 3 a.m. local time. Good luck with that. He said that he is getting some media coverage, however, so maybe that will help sell some more dogs.

The hot dog place was an eating place and not a drinking place, so afterwards we walked down the street to a yakitori and sat around drinking beer and talking about all kinds of goofy topics. The students are both really friendly and it was fun to catch up with them, since I don’t see them usually.

Today the weather forecast is hot and dry, which I guess is an improvement from the hot and wet weather we’ve been having for the last couple of weeks. I wish I didn’t have to work – I could hang the laundry out today.
